Restauration

s inlayundrestaurationIn contrast to the repairs, the restauration is a series of partially profound procedures, replacements and complex rupture sizing. Furthermore, the refurbishing of worm-eaten, plastically deformed (invaded/hollow curvature) or mechanical (crash, accident) instruments are also included.

We usually produce a plaster bed to establish the form and alignment of the individual parts.

What’s important and exciting for us during the restauration, is to find the cause of, for example, deformations or inconsistent sounds and to acquire a permanent solution. This procedure must be done with preferably minimal intervention and to maintain old substances (varnish/wood) in a good condition. Contrary to a valuable painting, an instrument is an object of utility, which must be reliable. This make the consideration and decisions in a restauration a frequent challenge that can be solved with experience and innovation.
